We are looking for a Chief Accountant to lead the month-end close process and financial reporting for a specific entity. This role combines deep accounting expertise with leadership responsibility, acting as the primary reviewer and go-to person for all accounting matters while supporting the FP&A community with accurate and timely financial data.

You will work closely with finance leadership, business units, and external auditors to ensure the integrity of financial reporting, adherence to internal controls, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.

What you will be doing

  • Own and lead month-end and year-end close processes including journal entries, FX revaluation, depreciation, and financials submission in COGNOS
  • Validate and supervise accounting transactions, bank reconciliations, and intercompany reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner
  • Validate and supervise the creation and posting of payments, including payment vouchers and bank transfer documentation
  • Ensure inventory and module accounting is complete at month-end and that stock is reviewed on a regular basis
  • Generate and deliver financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Perform financial data analysis including Balance Sheet Reconciliation reviews, variance analysis, TBDD checks, and impairment assessments
  • Validate and resolve ICO mismatches with counter entities during month close
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for accounting inquiries from various business units
  • Prepare accounting memos for significant accounting transactions
  • Monitor and continuously improve accounting processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency

Must-have requirements

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and technical accounting standards
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (SAGE, SAP, or Oracle)
  • Solid experience with inventory accounting and understanding of logistics processes
  • Proven ability to manage month-end and year-end close cycles end-to-end
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across various stakeholder groups

Nice-to-have experience

  • Experience working with COGNOS for financial reporting and submissions
  • Familiarity with intercompany reconciliation processes in multi-entity environments
  • Prior involvement in audit preparation and external auditor coordination
  • Background in process improvement and internal controls enhancement
