About the Role
We are looking for a Principal Game Engine Engineer to shape the technical foundation of our casino game portfolio.
As the highest technical authority for game engine architecture, you will define how our engine evolves, scales, and supports the next generation of gaming experiences. You will drive key architectural decisions, establish engineering standards, and ensure that performance, maintainability, and reliability remain at the core of everything we build.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, mentoring experienced engineers, and influencing technical direction across multiple game teams.
What You’ll Do
- Own and evolve the architecture of our core game engine and shared technology stack.
- Drive technical strategy for rendering, animation, state management, performance optimization, and scalability.
- Define engineering standards, development practices, and architectural guidelines across multiple game teams.
- Establish performance budgets, profiling methodologies, and optimization frameworks.
- Lead technical decision-making related to cross-platform compatibility and long-term maintainability.
- Contribute hands-on to critical engine components and high-impact technical initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Game Development, and Engineering Leadership to support new game features and mechanics.
- Champion reliability, observability, release safety, and continuous improvement across the engineering organization.
- Mentor senior engineers through code reviews, architectural guidance, and technical coaching.
- Influence the long-term technical roadmap and help shape the future of our gaming platform.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience in game engine or game platform development.
- 3+ years operating at a Staff, Principal, Lead, or equivalent senior technical leadership level.
- Extensive experience designing and evolving game engine architectures in production environments.
- Strong expertise in performance optimization, rendering systems, and scalable software design.
- Proven track record of delivering and supporting multiple shipped game titles.
- Deep understanding of engine-level systems, game loops, memory management, and cross-platform development.
- Experience driving technical strategy and architectural decisions across multiple teams.
- Strong mentoring and leadership skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a passion for building high-quality, maintainable systems.
Nice to Have
- Experience within casino, real-money gaming, or other highly regulated gaming environments.
- Exposure to WebGL, HTML5 Canvas, Pixi.js, or similar browser-based rendering technologies.
- Experience leading engine modernization, migration, or large-scale refactoring initiatives.
- Familiarity with RNG certification processes and gaming regulatory requirements.
- Previous involvement in technical hiring, career development, and engineering growth frameworks.
